Challenges & Solution
In a premium implant category long dominated in Korea by two imported brands, the decisive purchase filter is rarely what the industry has advertised. BOUNS was developed for Hans Biomed — a global biomedical company with more than twelve years of proprietary implant technology and Korea's first domestic development licence — to challenge this segment with a fundamentally different proposition. Our task was to architect a brand that could compete on trust, not legacy.
Our work began with six years of consumer data. Drawing on the Korean social listening platform Sometrend, we mapped the consumer journey from first search to post‑operative care and uncovered a defining tension: in this category, consumers are not buying an implant, but the life that follows surgery. Aesthetic outcome opens the consideration; safety closes the decision.
This insight became the cornerstone of our strategy. Rather than inherit the category's grammar of celebrity, legacy or warranty statistics, we structured BOUNS around a single proposition: Confidence, Designed. Confidence, we argued, is not a feeling to evoke — it is a structure to design — from technology, data and accountability.
Three core values form the brand's architecture. Bespoke captures the product essence: the world's only fully segmented sizing system, differentiating width, height and volume to address breast asymmetry across a wide spectrum of female body types. Integrity defines the brand's attitude: transparent safety data, long‑term monitoring and a dedicated warranty programme that extends accountability well beyond the operating table. Vitality is realised through consumer experience — the restored energy felt across confidence, fashion, physical activity and everyday life. The communication message, Made to Be Sure, compresses the architecture into a single line.
To translate strategy into a visual system, we developed an identity in which every element encodes a specific brand value. The symbol reinterprets the implant's three‑dimensional curves as geometric form, giving visual shape to the philosophy that an implant should not be one standard size but designed to fit each individual body. The supergraphic system, Every Form, abstracts four implant silhouettes — Full Round, Natural Drop, Slender Curve, Balanced Projection — into a modular grammar of density, spacing and scale. The colour system pairs Velvet Amber, a tactile warmth, with Vivid Bounce, an accent of self‑authored confidence. The photography concept, Sculpted Nature, departs from medical device conventions, juxtaposing engineered curves with organic forms in editorial language.
"BOUNS goes beyond selling a medical device. As a lifestyle medical brand that symbolises patients' self‑esteem and confidence, we will set a new standard of trust in body aesthetics." — Kim Geun‑young, CEO, Hans Biomed, Inc.
BOUNS launched in Q2 2026 as Korea's first domestically developed premium breast implant brand with a fully integrated identity system.
