Challenges & Solution
We at the bread and butter have a clear social vision, which is why we hand-pick the brands that we feel have the most potential to create positive social, cultural and environmental change to work with.

In line with this ethos, we have been consulting on the brand renewal of a traditional Cheongju brand for Lotte Chilsung Beverage. Cheongju is a traditional Korean rice wine, similar to Japanese Sake, with a rich history that is intertwined with traditional Korean culture and spirituality.

This particular brand has a long heritage and incredibly high quality product: it uses solely premium rice with a polishing ratio of 52%, all made in a distillery that is over 80 years old. We put this history front and center in our approach to branding this product, ingraining it into the brand's strategy, naming, logo and packaging design.

Although we can't share more specific details until the product launches, we're excited to give you a sneak peak into our process. Through this project, we sought to make this brand's heritage tangible by layering textures that serve as touch-points for its history within its packaging design, inviting the consumer to journey through the brand's past in their tactile interactions with the product.
