Challenges & Solution
the bread and butter, the first B-Corporation Certified company in Korea, supported the local community by branding Bom.B Salon. Located in Shinchon, Seoul, Bom.B Salon is a business platform that helps 24,000 single mothers in Korea, who have a difficult time finding opportunities to participate in the wider community. The business fosters independence and teaches basic skills for living through business classes and product-making classes (hand-made soaps, tea, and more). The mission of the bread and butter with the project was to empower disadvantaged single mothers through branding.
The challenge with Bom.B Salon was that they did not have a proper brand symbol logotype design to put on the products and commercialize their creations. Therefore, the bread and butter created an alphabet ‘B’ symbol with two ‘B’ are combined together. The symbol represents how Bom.B is not only a one-off business for fostering single mothers’ independence but also a sustainable business that continually supports those in need. Additionally, the combined form of the ‘B’ also takes the form of a fence, which represents how Bom.B Salon will be single mothers’ strong and sturdy backup to make the world a better place.
With the help of the bread and butter, the package design for Bom.B Salon was successfully completed and even registered for a trademark at the IP Office. Moving forward, from 2021, the bread and butter will support Bom.B for a sustainable business model with professors at Yonsei University.
